About ROBINSON CRUSOE & FRIDAY:

When Robsinson Crusoe finds himself ship wrecked on a remote island, he works against all odds to survive alone for 25 years. Then one day, he saves a stranger from brutal savages and the two develop a remarkable friendship. Adapted from the classic novel by Daniel Defoe, this imaginative retelling emphasizes embracing cultural differences in an adventure full of comedic miscommunication, history and heart!

ROBINSON CRUSOE & FRIDAY features William Hopkins in the role of Robinson Crusoe, and addresses gender equality with Sarah Roa in the traditionally male role of Friday. This adaptation was written by Colin Heath and Michael Wolski.

Axis actively pursues a multi-disciplinary style of presentation. Their 57 original works have earned them 17 Jessie Richardson Awards, A Betty Mitchell Award and a Drama Desk Nomination for Unique Theatrical Experience.

Robinson Crusoe sets sail!

The cast and crew of Robinson Crusoe set out on their cross BC tour last week. The show is a newer adaptation of the same script that Axis toured almost 15 years ago. With updates such as gender equal casting (with Sarah Roa in the traditionally male role of Friday), and new script revisions that stress overcoming cultural differences and equality, this show is a response to our modern culture and the issues we are currently facing. We’ve already had wonderful responses from schools, who think the piece not only appeals to children’s senses of humour but also has educational value and a lot of heart.

“It was very funny. The kids loved it!”Ridgeview Elementary

Your presentation was excellent. It combined humour, music as well as a serious topic to create a vibrant production.” – Henry Bose Elementary

The show features a beautiful new set, designed by Ivan Morissette, and fantastic costumes and props by Jessica Oostergo.
